About

Pediatric asthma is a chronic inflammatory airway disease characterized by reversible airflow obstruction, bronchial hyperresponsiveness, and recurring symptoms that significantly impact children and families. It is one of the most common chronic illnesses in childhood and a leading cause of emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and missed school days. Asthma severity and triggers vary widely, requiring nurses to apply individualized, evidence-based care across acute and long-term settings. This course provides nurses with a comprehensive understanding of asthma pathophysiology, assessment, and management across the continuum of care. Emphasis is placed on recognizing exacerbations early, implementing prompt interventions, and preventing complications.
