About

Angina pectoris is a hallmark manifestation of myocardial ischemia and one of the most common cardiovascular conditions encountered in nursing practice. It represents an imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand, resulting in chest discomfort that can range from mild to severe. Understanding the underlying mechanisms, risk factors, clinical manifestations, and evidence-based management of angina is essential for nurses who provide care to patients with coronary artery disease or other cardiac disorders. This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the anatomy and physiology of coronary circulation, the pathophysiology of angina, pharmacological and non-pharmacological management strategies, diagnostic methods, and patient education principles. Nurses play a pivotal role in the prevention, detection, and management of angina through accurate assessment, early intervention, and patient advocacy. This self-paced course integrates clinical practice guidelines, nursing process applications, and patient-centered care strategies to enhance the nurse’s ability to respond effectively to anginal episodes. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to provide competent, safe, and compassionate care that promotes cardiac stability, prevents complications, and improves quality of life for individuals with chronic or acute coronary syndromes. This course also highlights communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cultural competence—ensuring that nurses deliver care that respects diversity, supports patient autonomy, and aligns with ethical and professional standards. Through a blend of theoretical content, real-world case scenarios, and NCLEX-style practice questions, learners will strengthen their critical thinking and clinical reasoning in cardiovascular nursing practice.
